Virvell × BambooHR Integration
Setup, stage-triggered screening, and viewing results in BambooHR.
Virvell connects directly to your BambooHR hiring pipeline. As candidates move through your stages, Virvell automatically triggers AI pre-screen interviews, voice reference checks, and background verification — then writes results back into BambooHR as each candidate progresses. No copy-paste, no switching tools.
Before you start
- An active Virvell account. If you don't have one yet, sign up at virvell.ai or contact support@virvell.ai.
- Admin access to your BambooHR account (you'll need to approve the OAuth connection).
- The hiring stages you use in BambooHR's applicant tracking, so you can decide which stages should trigger which screening.
- Estimated setup time: under 5 minutes.

Authorize the connection in Virvell
Sign in to Virvell at virvell.ai/login. Go to Settings → Integrations in the left sidebar and select BambooHR. Click Connect. You'll be redirected to BambooHR to approve access, then returned to Virvell. Once you're back, the connection status changes to Connected.

Map your BambooHR hiring stages to screening actions
In the BambooHR integration settings, map each hiring stage to the screening you want it to trigger — pre-screen, reference check, or background check. A stage can trigger one screening or several. Leave a stage unmapped if you don't want any screening to run there.

Configure write-back
Choose which BambooHR status each screening outcome sets, so results show up where your team already looks. If you want candidates to move forward automatically once a screening completes, enable auto-advance. Auto-advance is optional — leave it off to keep every stage change in your team's hands.

Save
Click Save. Virvell now monitors your BambooHR pipeline and runs the mapped screenings automatically as candidates reach the stages you configured. There's nothing else to install in BambooHR.
How screenings are triggered
Once setup is complete, screenings run on their own. When a candidate reaches a stage you've mapped, Virvell starts the configured screening for that candidate automatically — no manual action in BambooHR. You'll see the screening's progress reflected in the candidate's record as it advances from request, to in progress, to complete.
If you'd rather run a screening on demand for a specific candidate, you can still trigger one from inside Virvell at any time; results write back to the same BambooHR record.
Viewing results in BambooHR
When a screening completes, Virvell writes the outcome back to the candidate's BambooHR record as a comment, and updates the candidate's status according to your write-back configuration. The comment includes a link to open the full Virvell report in a new tab.
Each screening type produces a different report:
- Pre-Screen: conversation summary, structured answers, and a structured findings summary.
- Reference Check: intelligence findings across all references, with a full structured report.
- Background Check: criminal history, employment verification, and identity verification status.
What each screening does
AI Pre-Screen Interview
An AI voice screening interview tailored to the role. The candidate receives a call from Virvell's voice AI, which asks screening questions configured for the position. Typical turnaround: same day. The report is available within minutes of the candidate completing the call.
Voice AI Reference Check
Voice AI reference outreach. Virvell calls each reference the candidate provides, conducts a structured conversation, and produces an intelligence report with findings across all references. Typical turnaround: 2–4 business days, depending on reference responsiveness.
Bundled Background Verification
Criminal record checks, employment verification, and identity verification powered by Certn. Typical turnaround: 1–3 business days depending on jurisdiction. Background checks have additional Certn provider costs separate from your Virvell plan credits.
Cross-Source Evidence Intelligence
When a candidate goes through more than one screening, Virvell cross-verifies findings across the pre-screen, references, and background check, and surfaces any inconsistencies for human review. Virvell never scores candidates or makes a hiring decision — it surfaces signal for your team to weigh.
Troubleshooting
Screenings aren't triggering when candidates change stage.
Confirm the BambooHR connection still shows Connected in Virvell Settings, and that the stage the candidate moved into is mapped to a screening. Unmapped stages don't trigger anything.
A screening is stuck in "Request Sent" status.
For pre-screens, verify the candidate has a valid phone number in E.164 format (e.g., +14165551234) in BambooHR. For reference checks, verify each reference's phone number is in the same format. Contact support@virvell.ai if the screening doesn't progress within 24 hours.
Results aren't writing back to BambooHR.
Check your write-back configuration in Virvell Settings — each screening outcome needs a BambooHR status mapped to it. If a candidate's status isn't advancing, confirm auto-advance is enabled (it's off by default).
Can I disconnect the integration?
Yes. In Virvell Settings, click Disconnect under the BambooHR section. Virvell will stop monitoring your pipeline. Existing results remain in both systems.
How are screenings billed?
Each Virvell screening uses one credit from your plan. Background checks have additional Certn provider costs billed separately. See virvell.ai/pricing for details.
